David at the World Cup 2018 & 2022 Host Countries Announcement
December 2nd was a very important day in the soccer/football world. It was then that the World Cup 2018 & 2022 host countries were announced. David Beckham arrived with David Dean and Prince William and then he sat with Lord Coe and Andy Anson while they were announced.
Unfortuantely, England will not be hosting either the 2018 or 2022 World Cup games. 2018 will be held in Russia and 2022 will be in Qatar.
David, who served as England's bid VP, said the following after the winners of the bids were announced:
"I think the bid team have done everything possible, we couldn't have got a better bid. We're disappointed but we wish Qatar and Russia the very best, they're two great countries and I'm sure they'll make FIFA very proud. It's obviously hard to not come away with the World Cup in 2018 but a lot of congratulations have to go to the team, a lot of hard work has been done. It would be great to bring the World Cup to our country because we've not had it for so many years."
