I'm sure many of you who are dedicated followers of Victoria and her style noticed some similarities between pieces she has worn in the past and a few from her new spring 2011 collection which leads me to ask - did Victoria get inspiration from her own closet?
Example #1: Dress #99 - the Optical print flare dress had a striking resemblance to Victoria's Azzedine Alaia skirts and her fall 2009 Giral dress. The bodice was very similar to the Giral with the "crumb catcher" folds and the skirt was "striped" just like the Alaia pieces.
Example #2: Dresses #89, 90, and 91 all had bell shaped silhouettes which were similar to Victoria's Proenza Schouler dress she wore back in 2008.
Example #3: Dress #76 - the cap sleeve tunic dress reminds me a lot of both the vintage Correges dress she wore last week and the pink Pencey dress she wore in 2008. It had the same color and shape as the Pencey dress (minus the V neckline) and it had pockets just like her vintage piece.
Example #4: Dress #92 - the sculptured obi dress is very similar to her self-designed Cloud dress from her fall 2010 collection except this one is not strapless. Also, dress #84 - the sleeveless obi seamed fitted dress is a lot like the Sanson dress from Victoria's fall 2009 collection. They have a very similar silhouette and cut neckline.
